Business

In the summer of 2005, Brian Jacobs of Emergence Capital called saying he wanted me to come to the Bay area and meet Ken Krugler. Over the past few years, Brian and I had been involved in three deals together — BigFix, Visage Mobile, and Net Perceptions. Brian the investor, me an operating executive in the company. He said that Ken, a world-class developer, had a brilliant idea with the potential to help software developers, and in the process become a significant catalyst for open source software growth. Ken needed a CEO.

Today, Krugle is 18+ people building a search engine for open source code and technical information. You can track our progress on the obligatory blog.

My business is starting companies, nearly all in high-tech and venture-funded. As CEO I serve the board, with a goal of driving massive amounts of progress within short periods of time. I’ve developed a knack for getting the right people on the bus, the right people off it, and then together figuring out where to drive the thing.
